Our clients purchased this charming, petite brick colonial and were moving across the country with a 4-5 month timeline from closing to move-in. We took the original kitchen down to the studs and got to work creating a beautiful kitchen that maximized space and was functional for their young family. The home's center entrance includes a staircase that would be open to the new kitchen so we updated it with new paint and a simple, classic runner. For the kitchen itself, our clients choose a mid-tone wood for the cabinetry and lots of white accents to keep the look fresh and modern. Quartz counters are both easy-care and pretty, we tiled all the walls in glossy white subway tile, and designed a custom hood for over the range. We had an awkward protrusion to work with that couldn't be removed or altered structurally, so we designed a pantry, an appliance garage, cabinetry, open shelving, and tiled the base in the same tile as the walls to blend the space into the rest of the kitchen. A generous island anchors the kitchen and connects it to a built-in banquette dining area on the far side. We always welcome a challenge and this kitchen was a fun puzzle for us to plan and execute.
